beef-in-mushroom-gravy-american-homemade-recipe

This slow cooker beef dish provides a great source of high quality protein, which helps build and repair muscles while keeping you feeling full and satisfied. Because it uses a lean cut like round steak and is cooked slowly in its own juices, you get tender meat without the need for heavy frying or extra cooking oils. Additionally, using a mushroom and onion base adds essential vitamins and minerals, like selenium and potassium, supporting a healthy immune system and overall energy levels.

Ingredients

  • 2 to 2-1/2 pounds boneless beef round steak
  • 1 to 2 envelopes dry onion soup mix
  • 1 can (10-3/4 ounces) condensed cream of mushroom soup, undiluted
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Mashed potatoes, optional

  • Instructions

    1. Cut steak into six serving-size pieces; place in a 3-qt. slow cooker.
    2. Combine the soup mix, soup and water; pour over beef.
    3. Cover and cook on low for 7-8 hours or until meat is tender.
    4. Serve with mashed potatoes if desired.
